Treasure 2 Farm Scholarship Program 2008-2009
If you have any questions please let me know. As education goes up, my hopes are to be able to relieve some of this burden. There are not many programs that offer horse scholarships as they do in other sports. My goal is to get the community more involved and hopefully increase the amount of scholarship offered each year.
2. Volunteer Hours - You must volunteer at least 10 hours with horses (this can be at a handicap riding stable, our farm, girl scouts, etc). You must also volunteer 15 hours of community service. Whatever you volunteer must be signed by the person you are volunteering with. If you have questions to what counts as volunteer hours e-mail or call me.
3. Good Grades Your GPA must remain above a 3.0 throughout the entire year. (cannot drop below a B average.
4. Quiz and Essay - Next spring a horse essay topic will be assigned and a date given for when it must be turned in. Also there will be a horse quiz, I will hand out material to be studied and will give a few dates that quiz can be taken.
Scholarships will be awarded at the end of the 2008-09 school year. Money scholarships are available for 8th grade and up. Books, prizes, etc. will be awarded to 7th grade and under. We are hoping to give out 2 scholarships of $250 a piece. This money should go to education (college, homeschooling, private school, etc.). Lindsey will NOT be judging the winners, there will be a panel of people who will review all requirements and decide.
1. Riding hours (starting the first week of August-last week) You can keep up with these by using a calendar, on the computer, piece of paper, etc. But you must have the date and hours of riding. One lesson will count as 1 hour of riding time. Any riding counts so if you lease a horse, camp, girl scouts, your own horse, etc. Do not let this intimidate you if you do not have your own horse, there are other parts to the scholarship.
